Email middleware for National Portrait Gallery's Virtual Portrait
The Virtual Portrait exhibit takes photographs of visitors and uses their faces to draw classical style portraits. To facilitate sending the finished portraits to visitor's email addresses, 2-UP required a middleware application that would generate and send HTML emails.

DMX control middleware for Martin MAC 250+ lighting units at NWMS
At Swansea's new National Waterfront Museum, PLANT needed to control a robotic spotlight from a Macromedia Director exhibit software. Requiring production and delivery of middleware that communicated with industry standard DMX hardware, the finished product also performed the fiendish task of translating a 2D coordinate on a projected screen into a 3D coordinate for a panning/tilting chassis so that the spotlight would fall at the precise location required.

Transparent network-based data sharing for Macromedia Director
Having developed a multi-computer exhibit for the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea, PLANT needed to get their Macromedia Director software to talk to each other over the LAN network in the museum. The solution was a neat piece of middleware that removed any requirement for difficult networking code within Director, and provided transparent and automatic sharing of data and messaging between any number of machines on a LAN. The realtime networking application allows three different computers to present a unified and synchronised display as if coming from one single machine.
